Also, have you guys had a chance to check out the new (April) release, Homewrecker from the new Mrs. Hammond, better known as Grey DeLisle? At times Homewrecker suggests Tammy Wynette with Nico Case’ cajones, at others, it’s more like Kate Bush channeling Patsy Cline. The production itself recalls Emmylou Harris recent work, that is, it’s 100% drop-dead gorgeous, with Murry’s bass playing (and vocals too, on the beautiful “Showgirl”) featured on several tracks.

Maybe Miles of Music says it better: “Southern California country songstress Grey De Lisle delivers a vibrant sophomore disc with Homewrecker. As on her impressive debut Small Time, De Lisle showcases an alluring singing voice. ‘Beautiful Mistake’ beautifully recaptures the classic country sound of Patsy Cline-era Nashville, while the melancholic ‘Borrowed & Blue’ wonderfully blends De Lisle’s sorrowful ballad singing with a contemporary sheen. She also demonstrates her versatility by turning out tunes accented with rockabilly (the title track), rock ‘n’ roll (‘The Hole’) or done totally in Spanish (‘Usted’). The gorgeous twang-pop ‘Showgirl (I’m Sorry)’ features a duet with the Old 97’s Murry Hammond. Throughout the disc, De Lisle receives accomplished accompaniment from such talented sidemen as Benmont Tench (who’ll also be appearing on Rhett’s upcoming solo CD – f.e.), Greg Leisz, Rami Jaffee and Hammond, with Marvin Etzioni (ex-Lone Justice – f.e.) again handling the production chores. So let De Lisle and her friends in to wreck your home for a while…” Check it out, and don’t miss the Homewrecker mp3’s available at
